When the internet first came around, it was a communication tool. Soon people wanted a way to share more than just business, they wanted to share everything. People were sharing all their thoughts because we saw it as personal journal that only the select few on our friends list could see. That’s what it was in the early days. Now it’s a billboard. When you throw your deepest thoughts online, it’s permanent. It represents you, no matter how many years old the post. Remember it’s a billboard. People on your friends list are not the only people that can see what you post. People that don’t know you will read your post and judge you based on what is on your billboard. The internet is not a personal journal by any means. It’s become a business in itself. Imagine a brand posting that they hated a customer they had to work with that morning. It would get major backlash and lose business. That’s how it work’s now, except not with just brands, but with your social media too. If you post something that a group of people disagree with, your going to lose followers and get backlash. That’s what it’s turned into. The only way to avoid this is to become anonymous. My tumblr page here is not anonymous. My name is Teresa. I live in Michigan. You’ve read my thoughts on this and I welcome any feedback you want to share. But know this, feedback goes both ways.
